ADOPTED! Chessie new family is shown above. She'll have a stay-at-home Mom, Dad & 2 little girls that she adores -- so very happy for my baby girl. She'll be my 511th adoption since 2-24-2004

Chessie is young, X-large 75 lb Strawberry Blonde English Coonhound
Chessie/Squishy is also a "Bona-Fide Kid Lover!" she just thinks they are wonderful which is great since not all dogs even like kids let alone love them She is a Purebred Strawberry Blonde American English Coonhound Chessie/Squishy. You may know nothing about hounds, but we would love to introduce you to these magnificent dogs! Once you meet one, you’ll understand what I mean. All Hounds are noted for having the softest ears – their ears always feel like velvet, BUT Chessie is the first hound that I’ve rescued which is about 30+ that her entire BODY feels like velvet. She is so amazingly soft you just can’t help but “Squish” her when you are petting her --- which is why we’ve nicknamed her “Squishy!”
See those ears & the loose skin under her neck? She needs to grow into them & will when she’s full-grown. Chessie is such a baby, she is all legs & not very graceful yet. In keeping with her breed, she loves to play with all the dogs here as long as they will let her.
Chessie is NOT a “hunting dog” we know this because she was seen being thrown from a moving truck in KY but a Good Samaritan saw her thrown & rescued her! Sadly this is just one way that some people in KY dispose of unwanted dogs as we’ve heard this story too many times. We have a new Collie mix pup Carlee who was shot with an arrow!
So that you know, I didn’t know anything about hounds until about ten years ago when I rescued my first Foxhound Ellie Mae who had a broken leg. I found that “hounds” have an exceedingly gentle disposition. They are SUPER friendly to people & adore other dogs since they are by nature pack dogs. They can be adopted as an “only child” but they do love to be with other dogs --- but we discourage living with kitties. Are they verbal? Yes, they are, again it’s in their hunting nature to bay when they’ve located the hunter’s prey. When they do bay these days, I believe they are communing with their ancestors! They also bay when they are lonely or hungry so as long as you make them a part of your family & give them lots of attention the baying will be minimal.
As with all LnF Dog Rescue pups/dogs, they live in a foster home, have all their shots, spayed/neutered, microchipped, crate & potty trained -- although you will have to participate in keeping them on track! Puppies are paper trained. If interested read our adoption requirements & if you can meet or exceed them, you can apply online at our website. An installed fence at least 4 foot high is required & we do not accept any type of electric fence – no exceptions. Some dogs do need a 6-foot wood or vinyl fence & if so it’s noted on their profile.

All LnF pups/dogs have been temperament tested, live in foster homes ~ All pups/dogs have been housebroken (puppies are paper trained) crate trained, have had basic training ~ Guaranteed to still love people & get along with other dogs ~ All pups/dogs have been Microchipped ~ Tested for Heartworm, Ehrlichia & Lyme ~ Each dog is on Heartworm Medication & Flea/Tick year round while in our care ~ Up to date with Rabies ~ Distemper, Parvo & Leptospirosis vaccines ~ de-wormed twice.
