LNF Dog Rescue Adoption Policies - Please note:
These are not suggestions, these are our polices. If you do not meet or agree with our standards, please apply elsewhere.
A fence is always mandatory. We only accept & recommend the Petstop Fence Company as an *upgrade* to a current fence. The fence must be installed prior to an adoption application being processed. There are no exceptions to this. Our minimum adoption polices are:
* All dogs MUST be kept on a leash except in a fenced in yard or secure location. This is for the safety of the dog as well as to comply with laws against unrestrained dogs. * We can not adopt dogs to persons under 25 years of age.
* We can not adopt to renters of houses or apartments or anyone in active duty in military.
* We only adopt to people who have had personal experience as an adult of raising a puppy or dog and knowledge of basic command training. * We can not adopt to families with children under 8 years old
* We only adopt puppies up to 6 months to families who work part-time or work from home.
* We only adopt puppies 6 months to 12 months to a family who will guarantee at least (2) potty breaks daily. We will require a petsitting service reference on the application. We believe that puppies need to be raised, not left in a crate all day. * All dogs must be adopted as house pets, not as outdoor, hunting or working dogs.
* If you are applying for an adult dog, we do expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. Petsitting service reference will be required on the application.

We are happy that you are considered adopting a "Shelter Kid" and promise to help you find just the right one for your family and life style. If you are interested in meeting one of our pets - first read our ADOPTION PROCESS & POLICIES and if qualified, you may fill out our online adoption application (read instructions in blue below.) This will provide us with the information we need to determine which of our "Shelter Kids" would be a great match for you.
We consider it an HONOR to be able to do what we do. We love being able to rescue these unwanted and homeless gentle creatures and make a lifetime difference in the lives of these dogs by finding them permanent, loving homes.
There is nothing "wrong" with the animals we rescue -- they are condemned to death due to the severe pet overpopulation problem in our area. The shelters we work with have no choice but to euthanize perfectly loving animals to make way for the endless stream of new animals that arrive at their door each day.
At LNF Dog Rescue we ensure that each pet we adopt out is spayed or neutered. Since we guarantee that our pets cannot reproduce, they cannot contribute offspring to add to the overpopulation in our community.
Each of our dogs are carefully observed so that we can place them into the most appropriate permanent living situation. We assess if they are good with other animals such as cats, children, strangers, and so on, and generally have a solid understanding of their personality traits and temperaments.
There are circumstances where you may not be able to adopt the pet you have requested, but we are always willing to work with our potential adopters to find the right pet and will refer you to another rescue or shelter if we do not feel we can help you. We will do our best to expedite this process but we are a small, home based, all volunteer rescue group and time is always at a premium.doption donation costs are needed to help re-pay the costs incurred by Lost and Found. We pay a ”pull” fee to each shelter which helps support their efforts to save as many as possible by helping the pups/dogs into rescue. We pay transport costs, which includes gas & tolls. While fostering them in our homes we provide food, Heartworm medication, & Frontline Plus for their duration with us. On the average, the actual cost of caring for a dog is $400 without any medical complications.
We pay all these costs ourselves, then are reimbursed some of our costs at the time of adoption. We currently do not receive any grants or funding, so we must rely on the adoption donations in order to continue to provide the excellent medical care and spay/neuter for all our "shelter kids".
In our experience, if an adopter cannot afford the fee, perhaps they cannot afford to keep the dog healthy, happy, and groomed: however, if they view the adoption donation as an investment in adopting a medically sound, pet that has already been vetted, spay/neutered & microchipped - we feel they are more likely to be a responsible pet owner.
