Description:
UPDATE: 01-11-07 - My sweet, kissy, wiggle butt puppies have been given a clean bill of health. They had a nasty case of ringworm but they are all cleared up now. Their hair is growing back and they are just too adorable for words. They are happy go-lucky pups and are just so happy for a pat on the head or a pat on the rump. They just SPARKLE with their joy of living!
They have to be seen in person to see how cute they really are.

We have incurred an additional $500 in costs to care for their emergency medical care so we requesting and additional $100 donation be made for each pup to help us continue our work.
(Their full story is listed below)

These 5 boys arrived at only 6 weeks old about 5 weeks ago from WV along with their Mom Ivy. They all had Ringworm and numerous illnesses. They had been born in a barn and Mom and babies were starving to death. They were eating birdseed to survive.

We have treated everyone and everything and they are all now perfectly happy and healthy pups. Their hair is growing back which proves they are on the road to recovery. They do have long fuzzy coats unlike their Mother who has a medium length straight coat.

They are really, really good pups. They are not demanding, they are so loving to humans --- every day when they see me in the morning, they are thrilled. Not because I'm the person who has their food and water, but they are genuinely happy to see ME!

I've enclosed a picture of their Mom Ivy who is also a darling, 1 year old Spaniel mix. She has never been a pet in her life, the pups were born in a barn but she just wiggles that butt of hers every time she sees me. The boys all have their Mom's sweet and quiet disposition.

Please Note:
We do not adopt our puppies under 6 months to people who work full-time. Part-time or work from home is OK. We do not believe in leaving infants in crates all day.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several Petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

WELCOME TO
OUR NEW ARRIVAL PUPPIES
SPECIAL FUND WEB PAGE!

URGENT! ~Our puppies need your help~ URGENT!
Our puppies have undergone a thorough veterinary evaluation and all 5 of our newly rescued puppies have been diagnosed with Coxsidia/Giardia (highly contagious intestinal parasites to both humans and other animals). In addition, 5 puppies have been diagnosed with RINGWORM.

These are all treatable conditions. The puppies are currently being treated with the proper medications, however, they have had to be separated and quarantined from the rest of their rescue friends. Now that the puppies are being properly treated, we expect a full recovery, which means Lost and Found Dog Rescue will soon have 5 happy and healthy wiggle butt puppies. Since we are treating 5 puppies, you can only imagine the cost for medications, vaccines, and other necessary items to care for these puppies while being treated. Your donation or sponsorship can assist in alleviating the costs for treating the puppies. Any assistance you can provide to help with veterinary care, medications and vaccinations of the puppies is greatly appreciated.

One of the five puppies found in dire conditions

Lost and Found Dog Rescue is pleased to announce the arrival of new puppies into our lives! And just in time for the holidays! Who wouldn't want to bring a warm, fuzzy, snuggly, wet-nosed puppy into their home for Christmas?

We have taken in a mother (mom is a spaniel mix, reddish-brown in color, quite striking) and her five puppies, rescuing them from dire conditions. At this time, its difficult to determine the mix breed of the puppies, but we believe its a breed with curly hair. This mother and puppies were found living off of bird seed. They were also living in a barn, with no human contact. The mother is extremely malnourished, as are her puppies. One of the puppy has a broken tail, while the rest have very ragged tails, as if they have been chewed on by rats (and under the conditions which the dogs were found, its very likely the case). The mother has adjusted amazingly well to living indoors with human contact - she has been extremely happy and friendly and eager to please. She must know that we have not only saved her life, but her puppies as well. To better imagine her disposition, if you have met one of our available dogs, Trixie, at any of our mingles, you will know how sweet and wiggly butt this mother is!

Ivy ~ Mother

The puppies

The shelter we received the mother and puppies from did not have any additional room or foster parents who could provide care for these dogs. The shelter contacted Lost and Found Dog Rescue in hope we would be able to welcome them to our rescue family and prevent them from being euthanized-this would have been their fate if Lost and Found Dog Rescue had not stepped in and offered to transport the puppies to our rescue. The puppies are only about 4-6 weeks old, thus we must continue to keep them in our care until they are fully weened from their mother, have gained their strength, and have received their initial vaccinations. Lost and Found Dog Rescue would like to continue to care for the mother and her puppies once they have been weaned. With your support, Lost and Found Dog Rescue will be able to continue to provide care for these dogs and place the mother and the puppies in foster care.

Please help if you can by offering to foster a puppy (application is required) or adopting one.

You can also help by sponsoring any of the puppies, or the mother in our care. Lost and Found Dog Rescue will providing care and a nurturing environment until we adopt each individual puppy. However, the same way it costs money to care for a sick dog, it also costs money to provide constant and continual care. By sponsoring a puppy, you can help to alleviate this cost and ensure the best care for a puppy of your choice! In addition, you are also helping to ensure that your specific puppy finds the perfect forever home! Sponsoring a puppy may take the form as a weekly or monthly donation, or you can make a one-time donation. It's your choice!
