UPDATE: 12-24-08 - We are so pleased to announce that our little WV Beagle is going home on Christmas Eve. This is the first time we have ever sent a dog home to spend Christmas Eve with her new family.

Vanna will be starting out her new life in Bear DE with a Mom & Dad, (2) two legged brother & sister & (2) four legged brother & sister. She has a big sister who is a beautiful Golden and a big brother who is a yellow lab. Looks like a remake of Marly & Me over at her new home with all that yellow!

She is getting a big yard with a pool & a pond with fish -- hope her hunting instincts don't include fishing!

You can see my her neck that she spent her life chained up outside as most dogs to in WV but that is all behind her now. We are very, very happy to have our little girl go home & it's especially wonderful that she is going home on Christmas Eve.

Savannah is a pretty little Lemon Beagle who is arriving on transport 12/13/08 from our friend Rosy's place Wetzel County Shelter, WV. You can see where she was chained outside all her life by the discoloration around her neck.

We love hounds here at L&F Dog Rescue and Lemon Beagle's are so very pretty! They all just seem to have extremely sweet dispostions, very gentle and submissive dogs. It is pure joy to watch a dog who has lived outside it's whole life learn the comforts of a warm bed, plenty of food and water, other dogs to actually play with and toys, they never ever know what toys are -- we have to teach them! Then the best is watching a rescued dog get petted and stroked kindly usually for the first time in it's life -- they just melt. That is the best part of my life as a Foster Mom for L&F Dog Rescue.

I get to see all this first hand while I help all my dear little charges get ready to start their new life with their new families. This is the best, most rewarding job I've ever had in my life!

This is what Rosy had to say about her -
Savannah a lemon beagle mix who is about 30 pounds and about 8 months old. Friendly with a beagle disposition. Obviously hasn't been loved. Filthy and very thin upon arrival to the shelter.

PLEASE NOTE: A fence is always mandatory - no exceptions. Be sure to read ALL our adoption policies prior to applying for a puppy/dog.
If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode.
Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.

Our adoption donation is $200 which is (1/2) of what we've actually spent to properly vet & spay/neuter each of our dogs. Any donation above that would be greatly appreciated & tax deductible since we are a 501(c)(3) non-profit!

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Petstop Electric Fence. We do not accept any other brand
due to the high failure rate. The fence must be installed prior to us completing an adoption application.
If you need an electric fence contact the company Petstop @ http://www.petstop.com/

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several Petsitting service companies that we can recommend:
