It took a long long time but we finally found the perfect home for our little Sunny shown here with his Dad. He was terribly abused by children and men so he has been difficult to find a loving peaceful home for him. His new Mom is a volunteer for L&F Dog Rescue and she has made him enjoy life. For us, this is a very happy day to see our little man so relaxed and happy! Thank you Jenn!

UPDATE: Sunny is the such a handsome little boy! He is a rich golden color and very soft and cuddly. His deepest wish is to be by your side on the sofa or anywhere you are.

We have found that he has been SEVERELY abused by children so we will not place him in a home with children under 12 years old.

From Sunny's new fostet Mom:
Sunny has been here for almost two weeks. He is definately one of the best behaved little gentleman I have ever met. He's very calm, quiet, and easy going except when he meets someone new. He is frightened of almost everyone and everything. He doesn't like loud noises or quick, sudden movements. He barks at visitors until they leave or until I put him in the kitchen so he has his own place to feel safe. My dad and stepmom were here from NC this week and Sunny met them a few times. Each time he just sat beside me and barked at them. Once he is used to you and you have earned his trust then you have a friend for life. I am the only person that he is 100% okay with (probably because I spend most of my time at home). One night he laid right beside me on the couch and fell sound asleep. When I looked over at him I noticed that we was sleeping with his belly up!! He was wedged in between me and one of the others, so I'm not sure if that's just how he ended up or if he really felt that secure!! I would like to think that he was giving me the "belly up", but I'm not sure if he's ready to trust that much yet.

Sunny is definately terrified of children. He saw some in the neighbors yard and barked at them until I brought him in. I don't think he would bite them, but he most definately doesn't want to have anything to do with them. I always know if someone is walking down the sidewalk or out in one of the neighbor's yards because that is the only time Sunny barks outside. In fact, the only time I ever know he is here is when he barks. The rest of the time he is very quiet.

He still barks at my husband when he first enters the house or comes from the shower to the bedroom to get dressed. After he sees who he is he is fine.

At night when we watch TV he either sits on the couch with me and some of the other dogs or on the recliner with my husband and some of the others -- we have five dogs!! I really think the other dogs have helped Sunny learn the rules around here. They showed him where the water bowls and treats are. He follows them around the house and the yard. Actually he is pretty independent in the yard. He loves to run!! He doesn't really play inside or outside but he LOVES to run.
He listens very well. He goes outside almost every time another dog goes out. He has only had one potty accident since he has been here and it was on his very first day here. I'm sure he was just nervous and didn't know how to tell me he needed to go out.

We have had some rainy days lately and Sunny is very good about letting me wipe his paws off after he comes in. In fact, I think he expects me to wipe them.

At first I was worried because he wasn't eating very much. When I fed all of the dogs I put Sunny in his crate because that's what he was used to. When I would go to let him out there was very little food gone. I think maybe he lost a pounds or two!! This week (week 2) he started to eat all of the food in his bowl. The past two days he has eaten OUTSIDE his crate!! I noticed that when I fed the other dogs he would watch me and look around like he was wondering why he couldn't eat with them. Two days ago I thought I'd give it a try. I put his bowl outside of the crate not right beside the other bowls. I wanted him to feel like he could be out with them but still have his own space. He ate very slowly and didn't finish it all so I fed him the rest later. Yesterday he ate every bite!!

I'm trying to teach him to play ball, but he's not quite ready yet. He just looks at it and watches it roll away -- maybe one day!! He's not really playful, but he gets his exercise running in the yard. I'm hoping for a breakthrough for him, but it's going to take some time. In the meantime we're going to just let him enjoy life!!

He is shy due to abuse but once he realizes you will not harm him, he is fine. Very loving little guy.

He is shown here with his *girlfriend* Zara. They just LOVE each other. I would love to get them adopted together if I could for their sake.

Sundance is a big mush ball. His is so pretty (I mean handsome) with that beautiful strawberry blonde color. He always seems to want to be in my arms and held by me. He will lay in my arms like a baby (yup a baby) and have his belly rubbed. He will literally nestle his head into my neck and put his paws over my arms. Just adorable! He loves to lay by my feet while chewing a bone or a toy. He is working on sitting for his treats and food. He loves to use the doggie door now and will often lead the pack running out the doggie door, through the house, up the stairs to the second floor, only to do it all over again. He plays well with the other dogs and loves to puppy play.

Being their foster "auntie" I spend several hours a week with these little guys. They are absolutely wonderful, sweet and very loving.

Overall, he is the most well-behaved puppy I have ever seen. He is usually very quiet, although they make their puppy grunts and growls during play. They are very excitable when you come home but settle down quickly and are very content with chewing a bone!

We brought these beautiful pups up from VA on our transport. They are already up to date with all their shots and microchipped & spayed/neutered.

Marimay & Sundance are brother & sister Golden mix pups and were on death row at a shelter. The shelter they came from still GASSES puppies and dogs which is an incredibley painful death.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several Petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed before we will proceed with processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website.
