ADOPTED! I'm known for making great matches with my dogs & they don't go home until the perfect family finds them. Well, Iris super lucked out because she LOVES LOVES LOVES kids & she was found by a family that has a Mom, Dad & FOUR little kids. She couldn't be any happier & her family is very pleased with her too since she is such a good girl!
Iris/Penny is my #534th adoption since 2-24-2004

**Be sure to watch Iris videos below.

Iris Meet Your Match designation is:   Constant Companion
Looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship? I am all you need. Let me sit at your feet, walk by your side, and I’ll be your devoted companion forever.

Iris is a "Bona-Fide Kid Lover" & she does require a 6-foot wood/vinyl fence & no kitties!

She is only about 1 ½ years old & petite at only 32 lbs.  Let me tell you about this positively adorable, sweet, calm, very gentle loving little girl who loves people & especially kids. S he is a pretty little girl with eyes that as gold like her coat.  She is such a good girl & easy-going - I would feel comfortable adopting her to a first-time dog parent.  She loves people, especially children, & other dogs.

I do not say this about all of my rescued dogs -- only if it's true. Have you ever heard someone say "__________ was the best dog I ever had!" or maybe you have been lucky enough to say it yourself -- well I believe that whoever adopts Iris will say the same. She's such a good girl!

She’s a Mountain Cur which is not a breed that is common to this area although in KY where she came from they are like Black labs are in our area. They are born with docked tails & of the (5) Mountain Cur’s (they have become one of my favorite breeds.

It's such fun to watch her little stubby tails go a mile a minute when they happy -- which always. The Cur’s while not related to Lab’s but I added that to her profile because they have a lot of the characteristics of Labs.  Iris LOVES people & other dogs – fun-loving -- she plays all day with her foster siblings but what she loves most is to be all cuddled up on the sofa or chair if permitted. If you want a dog who will keep you company she would be perfect.  I would like to add this new information to Iris's resume'  -- Iris just showed me that she has bug-catching skills -- I really appreciate it when I get a "bug-catcher" which gives me one less thing to do!

There are a few photos below that show how horribly emaciated she was when picked up by an animal control which saved her life because surely was close to death from starvation. All her bones are showing including her hip bones. Dogs have to go without food for 3-4 weeks to end up in this condition. I believe that Iris has never been loved, never been cared for at all when she was in KY. The area that she came from is very poor & rural & people simply do not care for animals properly. Even though she was starved she still takes food & treats gently. She does eat really fast & she is now at her proper weight. If she sounds like the kind of young adorable little girl that you would love to bring into your life -- please read our adoption requirement’s & if you can meet or exceed them you can apply here at our website.
We do accept PayPal & credit cards for the adoption fee.
