UPDATE from Emma's Mommy:
Hi Marleen,
It's been awhile since I've sent an update on my little girl, Emma. She is
doing amazing and is quite the funny bunny!! She exceeded our expectations
and is now a healthy and fit 50 pound dog! I've attached a picture of her
that we took the other week - it's a profile so you can't really see how
tall she's gotten, but it's a great shot of her "smiling"! She's really
taken to frisbee and adores chasing after snowballs. We'll be going back
to doggy school in the spring to work on her off-leash commands for her
agility class - she absolutely loves classes! She's doing great and I am
just the proudest momma you ever met- she is spoiled rotten!! Thank you
for saving this little girl and bringing her into my life!
Best,
Sara & Emma

The dog pictured with Emma is Jake, our other most recent rescue - he's a 2 year old lab. He was best buddies with Molly, my yellow lab that I lost to Lyme. He and Emma are now best friends and are always near each others side. They play hard together, but he's very gentle with her - which is good, considering he outweighs her by a good 60+ pounds!

Emma has adjusted beautifully. She's made a lot of new friends and loves to chase fireflies at night out at my parents house. She's very well adjusted and just an absolute sweetheart. She adores Kong treat balls, squeaky toys, tennis balls and still loves to shower you with kisses. We will be starting beginning obedience for agility in August - I think she'll be a pro - I've had her on my mothers equipment and she just loves the tunnels and teeter-totter.

Thanks again for all that you do to connect people with these wonderful dogs! I'm thankful every day that I have Emma in my life. I check your web page weekly to see what other lucky dogs have been saved by you and the Lost & Found dog club. Keep up the great work! Happy 4th of July!
Fondly, Emma & Sara

UPDATE from Emma's new Mommy:
Emma (Sunny's new name - although we call her Miss. Minnie sometimes too - b/c she's such a petite little girl!) is doing great!! She had a checkup with my vet yesterday - stitches came out and she's doing beautifully, weighs 28 pounds and is all kisses!

She's getting an ever growing collection of squeaker toys and also loves her chew bones! She's quite the little investigator but loves to snuggle up with her mommy when I'm reading - although sometimes she gets bored and tries to move the pages for me.

She has also had lot's of fun barking at the ducks in our pond! Tonight she goes to meet her uncles Ted, Norm and Jake - the three amigo labs - so I'm sure that she'll have lot's of fun romping around with them.

Thank you again for everything that you have done, not only for me and Emma - but for all the dogs that you save! Fondly, Sara

This is one of new "shelter babies" that we pulled from the SPCA in Georgetown, DE. Sunny is only about 5-6 months old. She and her sister have spent almost 2 months in the shelter which is a very long time. She is a yellow lab mix with spaniel.

The picture you see is of her playing with her very first toys! They don't get toys in the shelter. She could not understand at first what the round thing that I gave her was (a ball) but she loved this toy. It is her proudest possession. She loves it so much that she puts in under her chin so no one will steal it!

She is the kind of little one that curls her ears as a greeting and Sunny really appears to be smiling these days. I've known both of her sisters for the last few months and I can see already what a dear, dear little one she is. She is very petite for a lab mix. I do not expect that she will go much over 35-40 pounds if that.

I must add one word of warning with her ... if you do NOT want to get kisses ... do not get within 5 feet of her! She has a million kisses that she has stored up. She was waiting for someone to come along and save her from the shelter so she could begin giving out those kisses.

We will be accepting adoption applications on Sunny, but we do need to evaluate her for a few weeks. She will be spayed on 5-19-04, up to date with all her shots, de-wormed, micro-chipped, house trained and ready to move in with her new family after that.

We already know that she gets along well with other dogs, she is going to be tested with cats.
