Our beautiful Sadie went home to her own new family. She had to come back to us when her family could not care for her anymore in March 2009. It took time to find her perfect home but as always, the wait was worth it for her. I miss that sweet face & eyes and my daily laughs & her chronic tail thumping but I did my job, I found her new famiy thankfully rigtht here in DE so I can visit. This is an update from her new Mom Cathy:
Just an update - she has already been for a walk, played in the yard 3 times this morning, and is expecting visitors as folks learn she is here now. She is very very very happy. She feels like she was always meant to be here. She looks so happy and she sits in the back yard on the hill like the queen of the land looking on either side of the house to ensure she has good vantage point.
** Bona Fide Kid Lover *** of the sweetest, lovable, pleasant dogs I have ever had the privilege of fostering. She loves everyone. Sadie rolls over and gives her belly. She loves giving and getting kisses. I haven't found a person, dog, cat or kid that she doesn't like. She loves walks in the park and swimming at the bark park. Sadie would be a wonderful addition to any family.
We are showing this picture of our Sadie below since this is most often her pose - she give everyone her belly in a submissive loving gesture. As you can see, Sadie is just beautiful, she is a stunning red/chocolate Chessy/Lab. We adopted her to a loving family when she was a puppy at 11 months old --- but recently took her back into the rescue since her family could no longer care for her. She was a spoiled beloved pet and we want someone who will give her all the love and attention she craves. She has always been allowed on the sofa so we will need to adopt her to a family who will permit that.
Sadie always was and still is a lovely, sweet, easy going submissive gentle soul even when she was a pup. She is perfection and I believe that is because her new wonderful breeds Chessie and Lab make her the perfect girl. She is ready to start her life again with a new family. If you want a loving dog who will cherish you then she is the girl for you. You can also see her playing with her foster sister Yana - she get's along with everyone and everything.
PLEASE NOTE: A fence is always mandatory - no exceptions. Be sure to read ALL our adoption policies prior to applying for a puppy/dog.

If qualified by our adoption policies and you would like to apply online - you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
Our adoption donation is $200 which is (1/2) of what we've actually spent to properly vet & spay/neuter each of our dogs. Adoption donation for any dog 5 years and up is $100.
All L&F dogs/pups have been:
Temperament tested and have been chosen for having sweet, gentle dispositions.
House Trained (paper trained if pups)
Crate Trained
Live in foster homes with families.
Up to date with their complete series of Distemper, Parvo vaccines, Rabies & Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough
Already SPAYED/NEUTERED, pups under 5 months must be prepaid
Microchipped with HomeAgain
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On Heartworm medication & Frontline Plus during their stay with us - + they go with a one month supply of each
Two De-Wormings
Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Petstop Electric Fence. We do not accept any other brand due to the high failure rate. The fence must be installed prior to us completing an adoption application. If you need an electric fence contact the company Petstop @ www.petstop.com
We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
