3/04/06 Buster's new family met him at the Mingle last week and by today, when we had the home visit, they already had a picture framed and a photo album started with pictures of him. He will have a two legged brother to play ball with, a Dad and a Mom to dote on him and spoil him, and many friends and family, both canine and human, to socialize with. It's clear that although he had a horrible puppyhood, he will have the wonderful life he deserves from now on.

2/18/06 The picture above is of our 2 foster pups- 65lb Dobie with 15 lb Buster Braveheart. We volunteered to take Braveheart for the weekend, and within an hour we knew he was staying with us until his forever family comes along. If you look in the dictionary under the word cute, you would find his picture. He is that adorable!

At 8 months old he is only 15 pounds, so he will probably reach 25 pounds at most. So if you're looking for a small short-haired lap dog, he's your boy. He NEEDS to cuddle on the sofa with his people, and we will only adopt him to a home where he will be allowed to do that.

He gets along great with our dogs, but is scared of our cats and barks at them when he sees them (one of the cats outweighs him). I don't think he knows what to make of them!

Surprisingly, for a dog kept in a box for 8 months (see story below), he's doing well on his housetraining. He does his business promptly when taken outside, and kepts his crate clean through the night.

2/08/06 This is our little Braveheart and he is a sweet, loving little boy who is more then willing to bestow millions of kisses on whoever will pick him up and hold him. He puts his paws around your neck and just holds on! This is the first time he's ever had anyone to love!

PLEASE NOTE: NO children under 12 years old - NO exceptions for the sake of the boys. They need to be someone's baby - we do not want them in competition with the needs of real kids

He and his brother Brennan lived in this box shown below in WV. They just lived in this box and had some food thrown in the hole. They have never been loved or cared for --- yet the miracle of dogs is even though humans have shown them the worst of themselves, they are still willing to love.

Hi everyone,
Rosy in WV just saved these (5) dogs --Dianne from DE Puppy rescue will be taking the females because they are pregnant. We'll be taking two males and Rosie will find a home for the doxie mix.

Brennan & Braveheart may be brothers, about 8 months old, really don't know the mix. Braveheart seems to be a very small beagle mix.

They were kept in a homemade, wooden makeshift dog box - in the dark and living in their own filth. There was a hole that opened that the food was put into. These little guys kept each other going and kept their spirits alive and waiting for rescue.

Braveheart is sweet and loving with such a big brave heart.

I've been asked several times "Why do you get dogs from WV. Did you get to save any from Katrina?"

My reason for saving WV and Georgetown DE dogs is because the pictures shown are normal -- rather then unusual for the area.

These were just the lucky dogs who Rosy was able to save. Rosy was able to save an extra 103 dogs last year because that is how many we brought to DE.

Without small groups like ours, she may have had to destroy those 103 dogs that we pulled. There is just so much room and people keep letting them breed and then they end up like the dogs in this picture.

We are doing a great job but we can not do this without foster homes and people who are willing to open their hearts to make room for these poor creatures.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipped

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Wormings

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence IF there are children in the home.

If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD
