UPDATE 9-20-07 from Devon/Already's Mom:
I am really pleased with him. He's already pretty good at walking on a leash and is learning to sit. The loud traffic makes him nervous but when that happens, he looks to me for reassurance instead of freaking out. We are signing up for classes but he is already a delight to have around. This morning a friend held his leash while I talked on the phone and I could tell by his big grin when I walked back over to him that he already knows that I'm his person.
So I've actually changed his name. I call him Already because he is already such a good dog. He's "Ready" for short. I think you can tell how goofy I am about him. You really don't have to worry about his safety. Thanks again. Getting Ready totally made my birthday, and I think it'll make it a great year. Love, Laura
UPDATE: 9-18-07 - I took Devie home today to live in Philadephia. He has two Mom's and two kitty cats. His Mom (who was also celebrating her birthday today) has been waiting to adopt a dog for a long, long time and she picked him. When I left he seemed content and I feel very happy that my darling little boy from SC will finally have the life he deserves by having his own beloved parents!
This is our new little boy Devon who has arrived from South Carolina. He is a cute little red Min Pin who it doesn't seem that he had anyone to really love him. They even let him get Heartworm. Luckily for him the shelter he came from had him treated and he is already showing negative. He is just fine now and will start his Heartworm medication on a monthly basis to keep this from ever happening again.
He is extremely affectionate, calm, and just a perfect companion dog who just wants to sit on your lap and keep you company. He is terrified of the fireworks and probably thunder. That will have to be taken into account with his adoption. I'm sure he lived outside his whole life so you can imagine what it would be like to see and hear lightening and thunder all around you with no where to hide and no one to calm and protect you. My poor little Devon!
He is like a little goat and climbs to the top of the crates and just snuggles up in his blankie. It seems to make him feel safe up there.
We will need for him to go into foster care for a few weeks so we can get to know him better ourselves, but then he will be ready to start his new life with his new family. The kind of family he deserves, someone who will love him until he takes his final breath, a long, long time from now.

Temperament tested and has been chosen for having sweet, gentle dispositions.
House Trained & Crate Trained - paper trained if pups
Lives in foster homes with families.
Already SPAYED/NEUTERED
(pups under 5 months must be prepaid)
Microchipped
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On Interceptor (Heartworm medication) & Frontline Plus (for the duration of their stay with us) - Plus they go with a one month supply of both
Complete series of Distemper, Parvo vaccines and Rabies.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
