UPDATE: My very, very special bundle of joy went home to start her life with her new brother Spunkers (also a L&F adoptee) and with her new parents. This little one stole my heart and did not bring it back. I'm so happy for her but I will miss that sweet face every day!
UPDATE: Cricket & Bea arrived last night from WV on a transport. I've had to revise Cricket's weight. I was told she was around 20 pounds and her paperwork said she was but that was her
weight when she was rescued from a horrible situation. There were 31 dogs in the home of a hoarder --- and only 10 could be saved due to the deplorer life they had. Cricket must have been starving to death because the shelter has already put 10 pounds on her in about 2 months.
She is now at her proper weight which
should be about 30 pounds which she is.
Cricket is a beautiful Strawberry Blonde
girl who is just starving for human companionship. It's not that she claws all over you, but just that she get's as
close as she can and leans into you.
She was afraid to be put in a crate her first. I'm sure that is because when she was rescued by animal control when they are dealing with 31 dogs --- they have to just catch them with the hook and get that in the back of the truck.
I will work with her and I know she will be fine. I put her in a large open wire crate and since she could see me, she finally settled down and slept thru
the night.
She get's along with other dogs but I can see that she prefers the company of humans above all else. She will make a wonderful companion dog to someone who wants to give her all the love she deserves. I know she will return the love 10 fold --- that is what I love about dogs --- how much they LOVE us!
This is our new young girl who is arriving on a transport from WV. She is a female dachshund, beagle mix. Cricket came from a household of 31 dogs, the local Humane Society was able to save 10 of them. Cricket would love a new family with lots of love and play time.

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up
All L&F dogs/pups have been:
Temperament tested and has been chosen for having sweet, gentle dispositions.
House Trained & Crate Trained - paper trained if pups
Lives in foster homes with families.
Already SPAYED/NEUTERED
(pups under 5 months must be prepaid)
Microchipped
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On Interceptor (Heartworm medication) & Frontline Plus (for the duration of their stay with us) - Plus they go with a one month supply of both
Complete series of Distemper, Parvo vaccines and Rabies.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.
Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed before we will proceed with processing an adoption application.
