This is the BEST BEST BEST Christmas Present I could ever have gotten. I am
thrilled that at long last Leo has finally found his own family & for him the best part will be that he will have his very own 10 year old girl to love & take care of. He loves kids -- so this is just so sweet -- What a GREAT DAY IN RESCUE!
Hi, I'm Leo, I'm a 2 yr old Purebred English Lab with papers. You can tell I'm an English Lab from my big block head! My nickname is Lee-Lee & everyone just LOVES me because I LOVE everyone! I just wiggle all over when I meet people. I would adore having someone who would play ball & fetch with me! I'm an active boy, what Lab isn't? I need someone who will *want* to play with me & take me for walks. The only thing I love more then humans are balls -- all kinds but squeaky balls are my favorite. If I could get 3 in my mouth at one time -- I would!
UPDATE: We had a professional dog trainer come in to meet with Leo and work with him & we found (thankfully) that he can get along beautifully with sweet, gentle submissive female dogs. He has a girlfriend now -- we'll be showing the video soon.
I spent the day with Leo at an adoption event & he was just too wonderful! He smiled & did his best wiggle butt for everyone who stopped to see him. He was pure magic with the kids which I didn't know since I had not seen him interact with kids before.
This darling dog deserves his own home or foster home & he keeps getting overlooked because he is black. If Leo were yellow or chocolate we would have no problem getting him adopted. It is so sad that people are *tired and bored* with black dogs. I think their personality and loving nature should be what draws people to dogs - not their color.
Leo spent his whole puppyhood & young adulthood outside alone - at the end of a chain - until he was 18 months old. It's amazing how much he loves loves people and balls and now he has a little girl friend to play with. He has a sweet and dear soul & just wants his own family to love him. He was not socialized with dogs but we are working on that. We have no doubt he is an alpha male which simply means he should not live with other male dogs unless they are very, very submissive.
He does requires a 6 foot fence or someone who is willing to have www.petstop.com to their current fence. They will give a discount to anyone who adopts a rescued dog. We require an experienced pet owner only.
To help him get adopted his adoption donation is $100 + one full year of pet insurance + if adopted in DE, we have a professional trainer who has been working with him (he is very motivated by food) who will come to his new or foster home for 3 visits to continue his training.
He just needs someone who is willing to provide a permanent home for this sweet boy to be a part of their family -- he is very special - please watch his video below to see how much he loves his ball. He never had any toys so now he adores balls - big one, small one, squeaky ones -- he loves them all -- he has even learned how to bat around two tennis balls with his paws.
