UPDATE from Penny's foster family:
Penny is a sweet little girl with ears that we hope she will grow into. She is (we think) a yellow lab/husky mix and is about 15 weeks old. She is very loveable and quiet. She is not a big barker like some puppies. She loves playing with other dogs and is just curious about cats. She has learned the basic commands so far as:
kennel, sit and she is almost fully house trained.
She is very submissive with humans but has a definite Alpha part of her which means that she will want to be the top female dog in a home. She will be able to live with most males and submissive females, but she can not live with another alpha female dog. She is currently living in foster care with her foster families wonderful lab girl Ellie and BlackJack is her foster brother.
This little beauty took my breath away when I first saw her at the SPCA in Georgetown DE. At 12 weeks she had already become a stray with a collar that was imbedded in her neck. Penelope was captured by animal control which saved her life. Now she is safe with us and looking for just the right home. She deserves a family who will love and care for her forever unlike her former owners.
I wasn't sure what she was (except really, really cute!) but now that her ears are starting to stick up more and more, she does look like she is a yellow lab mixed with German Shepherd.
Penny is very submissive and when you talk to her, she falls over and gives you her belly. She is getting along with all the dogs here, plays constantly with her foster sister Sabrina, Caramel and brother Carson. She has been taught by our cat Gracie that it's just best if you leave cats alone!!
She has the most beautiful eyes that I've ever seen. They are just huge for such a small baby girl. Just like any little girl, she has already learned how to use those eyes to get your attention and she is just a sweet, happy, people & animal loving pup.

at the Superfresh Supermarket at 700 Plaza Drive, Newark, DE 19702 on Saturday 10-16-04 from 11-3. We will have several of our "shelter kids" there so we hope you'll stop by to see us all.
Penny is crate trained, doing rather well with her potty training, up to date with all her shots and de-wormed.
