UPDATE: Someone was kind enough to send this message so I thought I would pass it on:

I think it's always nice to tell someone if you've made a difference to them, when they might otherwise never know! I read your description of foxhounds on Petfinder. That, plus a picture of a beautiful foxhound who just happens to look like my little beagle, led me to foster a dog for the first time! Willow, listed on Petfinder, is now living with me. She is everything you described! She is an absolutely wonderful dog. So, thanks a whole bunch from Willow!

This is our new girl Fiona. She was a *working girl* in VA and was used to hunt. So, NO kitties I would assume! She was captured by animal control in a horrible condition (see below) and near death from starvation. As it often happens when dogs are used to hunt they can get separated from the pack or owner and the owner leaves them behind.

She did have a collar and when the owner heard she was there he said he would come pick her up but he never did. It would cost him $20 a day and well after all she is just a dog!

I was sent her picture since the shelters across the country know I LOVE these hounds. I try to save as many as I can since they seem to all be uniquely gentle souls and so amazed to receive any kindness. They are stunned to be allowed to live indoors and you should see their faces the first time they get up on a sofa! Their ears all feel like velvet and they have incredibly soulful eyes.

So, Fiona has arrived to DE from VA.
She was severely depressed (you can see that in her picture) but wags her tail. She needs lots of love and food and we of course had her completely vetted and spayed.

We need more people to see what wonderful soft and gentle creatures hounds are. They will make your heart melt when you spend some time with them.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

We have several Petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

Good Dog Animal Care -

Servicing the Kennett Square PA area
Call: (484)645-3130 - Meghan and Jackie Herb

Pet Valet services include transporting to and from Vet or grooming, dog walking and pet sitting - e-mail: leeterri2001@yahoo.com or call 302-369-3074

TLC Petsitting

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed before we will proceed with processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website.
