UPDATE:
Here's another little update on Layla:
Layla is doing great! She learned her new name in no time flat. She also learned "sit," "down," "shake," and is working on "roll over." She has made friends with our guinea pig, as well as a few of the dogs in the neighborhood.

She sleeps all night without being crated now, since we got her a doggy bed that's right beside our bed. She is sneaky, though, because sometimes we wake up and there she is asleep right in between us!

We have had a few casualities of owning our new dog: several plush dog toys, a rope or two, her favorite tennis ball, and two of our sofa pillows. But we found a few up-to-the-challenge-of-her-teeth chew bones that seem to be working out quite nicely. (And what would owning a dog be without a few destruction stories!) She also loves her Kong, espcially when it's filled with peanutbutter. And her favorite pasttime is still looking out our living room window.

We just couldn't be happier to have Layla. We tell her every day how cute and sweet she is and how much we love her. It's so nice to come home to a wagging tail (attached to a dog that hurtles down the stairs to say hello, none the less!) We owe Lost & Found everything for saving and keeping our beautiful Layla until we could come along and find her. Thanks!!!

UPDATE from Layla's new Mommy & Daddy:
Layla has been a bundle of joy for Carolyn and I! She is so good, and very well behaved. She won't seem to leave our guinea pig alone, which is driving him nuts! I'm sure they will get used to each other. She is a chewing fiend too! I gave her a 7" rawhide on Monday, and she literally did not move from her spot on the floor until the rawhide was gone! By the way, that was only 2 hours and 10 minutes! I've never seen a dog demolish a rawhide that size so quickly!

Layla has already destroyed a few toys from playing a little too hard with them...but that's ok...we just got her new ones. She seems to love tennis balls. She has a tennis ball, and peanut butter flavored tennis ball, a tennis ball rope, and a tennis ball tug-of-war toy (where there is a rope attached to one tennis ball) She loves chasing the ball, and always brings it right back so she can chase it again (but not before playing tug of war first!)

Anyway...here are the pictures I promised you. If you want more, let me know...there are plenty of them. We hope everything is going well!

--Ray & Carolyn

My beautiful baby girl is going home to live with her very own Mommy & Daddy. That is them in the picture looking very happy to have found their new baby. Not only were they happy to meet her but she just LOVED them the moment she saw them. She has been here with me since 12-20-04 and while she seems to think I'm OK ... she has never acted so happy to see me as she was to see Carolyn & Ray. Guess it was just meant to be!

We found the perfect match for our sweet girl. They have re-named her Layla which I think fits her wonderfully! They have even promised to have "Grandmom" knit her a jacket since she gets cold so easy. We're very happy for everyone!

UPDATE: She is the QUEEN of Tug-Of-War!! Yet, she LOVES her comfort. This picture of Jesse with her head on the pillows is how I see Jesse every day. After a fun morning of playing with all her foster brothers & sisters, then she likes to snuggle up and nap.

We are hoping to find Jesse a family who "permits" dogs on furniture. Since poor Jesse lived outside in a dog kennel her whole life ... I just want her to live like the little Princess she is. She deserves that after the hard life she's had. Luckily for her she is only a year old, some poor dogs are forced to live outdoors all their lives.

This is Jesse, our 1 year old regal beauty. What a gorgeous baby she is! She actually weighs 40 pounds, but she is very tall and lanky. I think if Vogue had a magazine for dogs, both of my girls, Jesse & Kayla would be cover girls! These are two beautiful dogs!

Jesse is the kind of dog where people will stop YOU to admire HER! Jesse is very happy to be admired. She is a beautiful golden and white with speckles--just absolutely lovely. But, while Jesse is most certainly a beauty, what is most important about her is that she will give YOU all of her heart. She is a calm and gentle creature who enjoys spending time with her family. Now, she is playful but not overly so, except when it comes to toys AND tug of war. She is the TUG-OF-WAR champion. This gives her great joy! She is here with my 110 pound Akita Yushi and Jesse is the only foster dog who has ever loved the game of TUG-OF-WAR as much as he does. They were both very, very happy today with their games. Jesse is very smart and very trainable. She just thinks humans, dogs and cats are wonderful. She really embraces life as a whole.

Up until she came into foster care, poor Jesse was kept outdoors in an outside kennel. (She is so smart though, that she is housebroken) I live with Jesse right now and due to her very short coat, I know that she can not tolerate the cold. If she is outside for more then 10 minutes she is shivering. I can imagine how miserable her life was before she came to us. I think she is the kind of girl who will need a beautiful coat (like her) when she is adopted and goes for walks with her new family.

Jesse was just spayed, is up to date with all her shots, housetrained, crate trained and I think she will be a sheer joy to whoever adopts this lovebug!

She is also entitled to one FREE month of Pet Insurance from Petfinder.com
