UPDATE: We found a foster home for this wonderful girl and her foster Mom said she will let her live there for the rest of her life. We are very happy for our dear Slyvie!
This pretty girl is a pedigreed 14 year old show dog. Sadly her Mommy died and her Daddy could no longer take care of her. He took her to the vet to put her down. Luckily for Sylvie one of our L&F Volunteer named Star happened to be there with her own dog. She spoke to the man and realized that he was only going to put her down because he was having surgery and knew he would not be able to care for her. This is not exactly as if it were her time, but rather that she had no one to care for her.
Well, Star whisked her away and brought her here to us. She is a sweet, gentle, loving old woman who is nearly blind due to cataracts. She still loves to eat and to go for short walks as her hips are not good due to her age. She has been vetted, rabies, distemper, kennel cough and heartworm tested which was negative.
Well, we don't know if anyone would have it in their heart to allow this sweet creature to live out her life with them but we thought we'd try. We have adopted several seniors out and we know there are very special people who consider it the kindest gesture of all to allow a dog it's dignity of dying in someone's loving arms --- when it's their time, not someone's else time.
