1/14/11 - Wilson went home to his new family in Jamison, PA.  His new family threw him a welcome home party complete with signs, cameras, pizza, salad, homemade soup and a cake in his honor.  His canine sister, Alice, also a rescue dog and two guinea pigs have welcomed him too.  We are so thrilled to have been able to find such a loving, caring and truly dedicated family for Wilson.

Wilson has an adoption pending. He will be going home as soon as our Vet releases him from his Heartworm treatment which should be shortly.

UPDATE: As part of our extensive medical protocol, we always check for Heartworm & Lyme & we were told by the Vet in KY who was neutering Wilson, that he tested positive for Heartworm. They said it was a "mild case" but we will still need to treat it. It won't be a problem, it's very easy to treat these days but it will delay his going home until January 2011. He will need "almost bed rest" for several weeks after the treatment. We can still take adoption applications for him but -- we will need him to stay in foster care until he gets a 100% A-OK from our Vet. The costs for this treatment is $450. As a small fostered base rescue, we must ask adoptive parents to help us absorb these cost. We have received $200 in donations leaving a balance of $250 plus his adoption fee of $100
UPDATE: From Wilson's Foster Mom:  Well, Wilson has been with us 3 days and is doing very well. Each day, its so lovely to see his fun loving and affectionate personality emerge. We toss plush toys, he runs to fetch them at full speed, pounces on it, grabs it, shakes it a few times and then trots back to proudly show you. So far, he has not even tried to pee or poop in the house. I am astonished. He got a bath this afternoon and it could have very well been his first. He freaked out when I turned on the water and then again when I placed the warm water on him with a gentle sprayer.   With much smooth talk and wet hugs, we made it thru. Lots of brown dirt came off him and his white fur is now so sparkily and he's now smells so clean. He's tired from the bath and now sleeping beside me wrapped in two fluffy towels. Mark took pics this morning and hopes to download them tonight. He's exhausted and also sleeping. Poor guy. He is also afraid of the vacuum -- it's clear that he has had no experience living in a home as a pet -- but he is loving it!

Look at this little treasure whose Foster Mom has named Wilson. He will be arriving from a very high kill shelter in KY.  We're told he is very funny, very playful & as you can see extremely cute!  He's small, maybe 25 lbs but needs to put on weight so may go up to 30 lbs.  He has the ears & legs of what looks like a Mini-Bassett Hound & a beagle. He's full of fun, eager to please, loves all people and other dogs and looking for a great home.

He was captured by animal control & had a collar but when the owners were called numerous times, they refused to call back. Just as well since he was extremely emanicated & so sick with worms he was vomiting them up! That is deadly to a dog to be that sick from worms.

Thankfully he came into a local rescue in KY who is very full (we all are) but they made room for him. They were surprised to find out how much personality he has once he was de-wormed and fed real food! He has already put on weight as you can see. It's not easy to arrange transports from KY but we are working on it and hope to have him here with his new Foster Mom ASAP -- We're thrilled to have a new arrival who will like all our dogs just looking to "Go Home 4 The Holidays!"
