6/22/06-update from foster mom: Are you looking for the almost perfect dog? (no dog or person are ever perfect.) Victoria is the one. She is loving, gentle, housetrained, and quiet. She was shy at first but her tail was always wagging. I just love this beautiful majestic girl. She is so gentle and loving, she is a joy all the time. Always laid back and a couch potato to boot. I guess she lived her previous life outdoors and has had enough! She will go outside for potty, but back on the couch she goes. If I want to sit on the couch she respectfully will jump off and go on her bed where she will lay there looking like the queen she is. I am enjoying her very much.
Victoria has arrived on a transport from Virginia. She is scheduled to be spayed 06-05-06.
This beauty is Victoria and she is constantly wagging her tail as a greeting! I know I keep saying this but what a special breed these foxhound mixes are! She is much larger then our other girls Ellie Mae and Ruby, she is very tall and long, but the gentle docile loving spirit of these dogs just has me enchanted.
Victoria is extremely submissive to humans and dogs that when she sees you coming she rolls over and gives belly --- with that tail thumping so hard!
She has a calm and serene way about her and someone said they seem to have the disposition of greyhounds and I would have to agree.
Description: Victoria has benefited from time alone in a pleasant woodsy country setting, rather than being confined to a boring kennel run in the next county's impound facility. She is middle aged (maybe 4-5 years old) and is like a German Shepherd in a hound body. By that I mean she is very into people-pleasing. Loving dog, very friendly, and feels pretty good in spite of the now-healed injury which left a small wound on her thigh. She is excellent with other dogs and puppies, loves to roll over for a belly rub, and is much rounder than she was at first, due to all the great food she is getting. She is heartworm negative, too!
All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:
SPAYED/NEUTERED
Microchipped
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)
Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.
Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough
Two De-Wormings
PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence IF there are children in the home.
If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
