UPDATE: It took a long time to find the perfect home for our Elizabeth but we did. She lives far far away now in PA but she has a Mommy who is experienced at teaching "manners" which Lizzy needs very much. She has a Mommy who has all the love in the world to share with Lizzy's & her BIG new older brother Jake. Jake is a brindle (just like Liz) colored Mastiff mix. He is HUGE and made Liz look petite compared to him. I left with sadness since by pretty girl and I have been together for so long, but she is not mine to keep. My job was to find Liz her forever family --- and I'm thrilled that I did for her sake.

PLEASE NOTE: BONA-FIDE KID LOVER! In this picture you can see Elizabeth chewing on a bone while being hugged by a child. We would like inform the public that NOT all dogs would be this gracious when it comes to their bones!!

Elizabeth is the kind of dog who we call a "Bona-Fide KID Lover" and we
believe that people with children who want to adopt should except no other kind of dog for their family.
If you have KIDS --- then you NEED a dog who LOVES KIDS. If the rescue, any rescue, does not say in the bio of the dog that it LOVES kids, it probably doesn't.

Not all dogs do and that is why they often end up in shelters because someone tried to make them lives with kids, and they didn't want to. When kids tease dogs --- and you know they do! you need a dog who will tolerate that. A dog who instinctly loves kids.

UPDATE: Elizabeth has been on a play date with us for a week and she has proven she would be a great family dog. She has been having a ball (literally) with my two children. She loves to play outside & chases the ball until she drops. She loves to be petted & returns the affection with lots of her own kisses. She gives us a great big welcome home whenever we return from somewhere. She takes treats so gently from our hand & will sit for everything if you ask her to. She is truly unique looking which is what is so special about mutts! She does jump up when she's excited so she will need
an owner who is willing to be consistent with her training. She is really a sweet dog & deserves a family she can love & grow old with.

She is also a very LARGE girl so we certainly need someone who ADORES large dogs as we do!

UPDATE: Let me tell you about our sweet Lizzy. I had just gotten some really bad news, my own cat is having liver failure and it looks like Gracie is not going to make it. (Gracie did NOT make it as it turns out) I was leaning against the railing just trying to accept what I had just heard --- and my Lizzy came to me, stood in front of me, and looked up at me very sad. She was trying to comfort me!!

She is just a wonderful loving girl. Very sensitive, and very intelligent. It is a VERY special dog who offers comfort to their people in times of sadness! She will make a great companion for an active person who jogs or walks regularly or a very active family who will give her lots of attention and LOTS of walks. She LOVES to go for LONG walks in the woods behind my house. She is so young that the world is a very exciting place for our dearest Lizzy.

PLEASE NOTE: Lizzy is a Greyhound mix -not a Pitbull. Her coloring is called Brindle - Brindle is a "color" like yellow, chocolate, etc. Many dogs have this color, Great Danes, Greyhounds. Too many people *think* this color means Pitbull and this simply is not true. I am enclosing a picture below of a brindle greyhound and you can see that Lizzy looks very much like this dog.

Lizzy has proved to be such a good Nanny for all the Dob pups and all the foster dogs. She is a "Mom" at heart.

Lizzy LOVES all children and it doesn't matter if they are 2 legged or 4 legged. She is kind and gentle with them all. She is such a sweet, gentle spirit but she does need to learn her basic commands (all dogs do!) to keep from jumping up. She is doing much better and really, really wants to please.

She will need to be adopted by someone who is experienced at dog training and she will prove to be diamond in the rough.

Lizzy is a spirited speedy girl due to her greyhound genes and she loves nothing better than to chase a ball and to play. She snuggles with the best of them and loves car rides. She's happy to be anywhere her people are. She does jump lower baby gates so needs supervision and tall gates if she is to contained. She crates well and sleeps 8 hours or more! She so needs her own family and an electric fence or at least a 5-6' foot fence.

Lizzy has come to foster with us a few days ago. She is a very happy playful girl who loves to chase balls and to run. She is quickly learning basic obedience including heeling. She is going to make a lucky someone a wonderful companion!

UPDATE: Lizzy appears to have the body of a greyhound. The face and ears, well, I don't know what they are but she very much looks like a small greyhound. She is tall, slender and oh so graceful! She also runs like the wind and is joyfully running around in the backyard with all her new friends. She certainly won't cause much shedding since her coat is very short and very shiny. She is a pretty brindle color.

Notes: Lizzy is a pretty mix puppy who came to the SPCA when her owner moved and didn't want to take her with him.
It is hard to imagine how anyone could leave this baby girl behind. Her coat is a beautiful brindle color and her eyes follow you adoringly wherever you go. She has a very sweet personality - she is getting used to her new surroundings and becomes more and more playful every day.
PLEASE NOTE: Please read ALL our adoption policies BEFORE applying for a puppy or dog. Any puppy under 5 months old MUST have their spay/neuter PRE-PAID through the adoption donation. There are NO exceptions.

Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed before we will proceed with processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website.

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

We do not adopt our puppies under 4 months to people who work full-time. Part-time or work from home is OK. We do not believe in leaving infants in crates all day.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.

All L&F dogs/pups have been:
