8/6/06 Ferdinand and Isabella just arrived on a transport from Virginia. They, and many other dogs were taken from an elderly man who's wife was a hoarder. She had died and he was unable to take care of so many dogs. They were found in wire pens in ankle deep mud and filth. Thanks to Rockbridge SPCA they were sent to us and are safe and loved.
Ferdinand is the skittish one of the pair. He loves people and wants to be with me all the time. He is a little scared at first but warms up after getting to know you. Once he does, it's a constant love fest!! He has been good in the house and loves to play with his sister, who he makes sure is always in the vicinity. This pair is so great together and they keep you entertained for hours!
Because of their hard start in life they need to be the babies of the house, so they cannot go to homes with young children.
Isabella loves to be loved!! She is just happy to be carried around like the latest accessory. She is also he brother's keeper. She is protective of Ferdinand and always makes sure he is ok. Isabella just lays in my arms and looks up at me with these content eyes. She seems to be so happy to have someone to cuddle with. Such a wonderful pair. They love to play together and totally enjoy sharing humans too!
Because of their tough start in life, they need to go to homes where they are the babies, so they will not be adopted to homes with young children
All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet, gentle dispositions, and are living in foster homes with families. They each have had the following:
Already SPAYED/NEUTERED (pups under 5 months must be prepaid)
Microchipped
Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus (as long as they are with us)
Complete series of Distemper, Parvo vaccines and Rabies.
Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough
Two De-Wormings
PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed
before we will proceed with processing an adoption application.
If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website and they have promised to send us a donation to help our rescue work.

We do not adopt our puppies to people who work full-time. Part-time
is OK. We do not believe in leaving infants in crates all day.
We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
