UPDATE: I took Calista to the Ursuline Academy to thank the 3rd graders who raised money for our rescue. We donated $50 of that to the "Dogs Deserve Better CHAINS OFF 2008" from that donation.

She met about 25 little girls who were sitting outside in the grass. She went to each of them, bestowed her wonderful butterfly kisses, curled up in their laps, and just provided lots of giggles. I also know she made an impression on each of them on how wonderful rescue dogs are. I'm sure their parents will hear all about how sweet and loving this little girl is to everyone she meets.

Then, I took her home to her new Mommy Julie & Dad Mark. They needed several fence repairs to be sure she was safe and her Daddy had all that done before I arrived. She also has a big older brother Cutter. He is a senior and was not that thrilled when he first met her but she is such a warm, charming little one, I thought I noticed a small smile from him as he watched her run and play in her new HUGE back yard.

Her Mommy told me she has already settled in and there seems to be a bit of a spring in Cutter's step now that he has a new sister to take care of. I feel wonderful knowing that she is home and will spend the rest of her life being loved and pampered. We wish the same for each and every dog, they deserve to be as loved -- as they love us humans.

UPDATE: So pleased that our little Lista met her new parents and new 4 legged older brother Cutter. He was not delighted at meeting her but then he started to warm up to this new creature in his home. She made herself right at home, went upstairs like the noisy nellie that she is. She is going home on
Wednesday after she meets the 3rd graders at Ursuline Academy who did a fundraiser for us and raised $396!
I'm taking Lista over to thank them in person and to show them how loving and so special a rescue dog can be -- and to show them how much she loves kids. People with kids should only adopt a dog like her - Bona-fide KID LOVER!

UPDATE: Calista is a very small (only 20 pounds) very sweet, affectionate Lemon Beagle pup. Her ears are so long I was afraid she would tip over!

She has proved to be the most loving girl to all people and what we deem a "BONA-FIDE KID LOVER" to kids over 8 years old. She was horribly thin but we fattened her up and she is ready to start her new life with her new family.

She is horribly thin but we are working at putting some Beaverdam on those bones. Her sister is Dahlia is terrified of everything but somehow Calista came thru the horrible part of her life in WV in tack.

Calista has arrived via transport from West Virginia. Calista was saved from a hoarder in WV. She was living in horrific conditions.

Here is what the shelter said about her:
Calista is a lemon beagle (approx 8 months) that does well with other dogs. Has had a limited socialization but loves everyone & everything at the shelter. Very playful!

PLEASE NOTE:
Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed/or firm commitment prior to us processing an adoption application. If you need a fence for your dog, but are not permitted to have a physical fence, or chose not to, please visit our friends at Pet Stop. Mention that you saw them at our website. http://www.petstop.com/

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
