UPDATE: Dahlia went home to live in Philadelphia with her new Mom & Dad. She is a very special needs girl due to severe abuse but her new parents have experience with this and like us, have seen these damaged little creatures blossom with tender loving care. Below is a video of her which is from her first morning home. It is a miracle to see her kissing and tail wagging -- this is for me what make rescue all worth while!

UPDATE: My beautiful little creature has found her parents. She is now going to be a Philly Girl which is so much better then being a WV girl! We hope she will be able to forget her horrible past with the love and understanding of her new Mom & Dad. We are so happy for my little Dee-Dee!

PLEASE NOTE: All pups/dogs adopted come a FREE vacation boarding for the first year. A fence is always mandatory.

UPDATE: Oh, my poor pretty little girl. She was so abused that she just quakes with fear. She has bonded with me thankfully and comes running to me and let's me hold her but she is stiff when being held. I just don't know, or want to know who harmed this puppy to make her so afraid.

I do not believe she will ever be *normal* but I believe she will be able to live a some what normal life. We would ONLY adopt a little one like this to someone who has first hand experience with battered dogs. Someone who will understand that the world is a horrible place to her but yet she still wants to be with humans. We have worked with dogs like this before and have lived to see them laugh and smile and play like a normal dog but they are always going to be skittish.

Dahlia has arrived via our West Virginia. Dahlia was removed from a home of a hoarder in WV. She was living in horrific conditions. She is the sister of Calista (who seem quite normal) but something terrible happened to this little one. She just quakes with fear.
I'm pretty good at working with dogs like this -- which is why we took her. I hope we can help her trust again but that will be awhile.

We would only be able to adopt a pretty pup like her to someone who has had personal experience with shattered dogs. Many times you can gain their trust but it is a long road but in my experience it is a truly worthy trip. More to come about as I have more time with her.

Here is what the shelter has to say about her: Dahlia is a lemon beagle under a year old. She is scared as she has obviously had a limited look at the world & limited human touch. She hides in the back of her dog box & does not venture out on her own. If you hold her, she does not like human touch. Just not sure what it is or what you are going to do to her. She will make a loyal pet to the person who puts the love and time into her.

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either Physical or Electric Fence. The fence must be installed/or firm commitment prior to us processing an adoption application. Mention that you saw them at our website. http://www.petstop.com/

We abide by the Humane Association's recommendation. For ANY DOG adoption to have a relatively good chance of success, we believe a child should be 8 years old & up. We only adopt what we call our "BONA-FIDE Kid Lovers to families with children." Many dogs do not want to live with children. You should only adopt a dog who LOVES kids to be sure you are able to make a lifetime commitment to a dog.

We also expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily. This can be through a family member, neighbor, or Petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
