UPDATE: We are all so happy! We found the perfect Mommy for Adam. Mommy bought a house just so she could have her new puppy join her! He is going to be a very lucky boy and Mommy will always have a own special little man!

UPDATE from Adam's foster Mom:
Adam is doing very well, and settling in to his new surroundings. He was not crated his first night here, but slept in the bed with us, and was fine. We will start with the crate training though to get him used to it. He is learning what the word "outside" means as well as "potty". We have taken him outside numerous times and he will do his business there. We have kept paper down for a "just in case" moment, but so far so good. He loves his toys, will occupy himself with them. He has a special blanket to lay on, and it seems to be his security when something might startle him in the house. When our two cats have poked their heads out from under the couch, they will hiss at him, and he backs away. I do not see any problem with him being with cats or other dogs. He tends to be the submissive one with other dogs, playing and then laying on his back when things get a little rough. He also loves to climb under the bed to lay --- once he is too big I am sure he will be disappointed, but for now it is silly to see a nose sticking out. He is a cuddler as well, and enjoys curling up with anyone who is laying on the floor. He is very interested in the kids of the neighborhood when they walk by, and is very welcoming to guests in the house.

UPDATE from the "boys" foster Mom:
These 12 week old pups are sweet, affectionate, joyful, completely socialized and a pure joy to watch play and interact with their surroundings. They all went to adoption event at Concord Pet Store in Hockessin on Saturday and everyone was "cooing" at their cuteness.

I let them go outside to play in my backyard and they were so happy to be running as fast as they could! They really are like little boys. Their ears which are quite long, were flying all over the place. I was laughing out loud.

Having said that, I would prefer that these little guys get adopted into families with fenced in backyards and that fenced in IS mandatory if there are children involved. To me, you can't have a puppy/dog and kids --- without a fenced in yard so they can play ball and grow up together in the backyard.

Invisible Fence is acceptable, and the company does offer a special where they will install a fence with their lifetime collar for $699.00 when you adopt a rescue pup/dog.

The boys are doing excellent with their paper training. The potty pads have become a form of entertainment and they use them to have tug-of-wars so we're sticking with newspaper. This is not to say they don't tear the newspaper up and drag it around also --- but they certainly know that is where they go to the bathroom. There housebreaking should be simple once they get into a home routine.

They have been NEUTERED, micro-chipped, up to date with all their shots, two worming's, paper trained and hopefully well on their way to being potty trained.

PLEASE NOTE: We do not place puppies in homes where no one will be home all day. Puppies, like babies, need lots of attention, socialization and cuddles. We do not feel that it is humane to leave them in a crate for 8-10 hour alone.

If you are applying for an adult dog, we do expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our shelter kids to be expected to do so.

We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:

www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE

www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE

http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD

We also have a wonderful all day Doggy Day Care service:

Doggy Day Care in Chadds Ford, PA www.fuzzybuttsPA.com

(I have visited this facility and it is wonderful and reasonable)

Please go to our website to obtain our online adoption application. You will need to register first; you will then be sent a password in about 1 hour. Then you will be able to complete the online application. We are notified immediately when one is complete.
