Nikki is going home on Sunday with her new Mom & Dad and will become a New Yorker! Daddy is home often during the day so she will not have to be alone!
Nikki is very smart and that is just what her Mommy wants, a smart little girl who also sweet & affectionate. That's our dear Nikki, we're very happy for her!

UPDATE: These pictures show how a few weeks in a foster home with love and attention makes a world of difference.

Our vet thinks this little cutie is a mix of beagle/terrier. As we already knew she is going to be very petite and should not go over 35 pounds full grown.

Nikki lives, plays and sleeps with the Bonanza boys and when they tried to gang up on her --- she made it clear it would be best if they didn't do that again, and they don't!! Nikki has a huge spirit for such a tiny girl and the boys are now afraid of her.

She sure LOVES people though! She is a little kisser, wiggle butt and her whole face lights up when you pick her up to cuddle. One of her favorite things is to be held. Nikki is also a huntress probably because of her two breeds, so she is always looking at birds, squirrels, and thinking about how she can catch them. I'm sure someday she will be very good at that. Since that is in her nature, I would prefer that Nikki is adopted into a family that has a completely fenced in property so she can "hunt" until her heart is content. Of course, being an animal lover, I hope she doesn't actually catch anything!!

These pictures were taken on the day this 8-week old baby was surrendered to the shelter in WV. Her people just didn't want her anymore. As you can see, she looks very sad and scared.

Well, that was then, and she is not sad
or scared anymore. This little cutie is a full spirited little dynamo and you can see how smart she is and full of personality! She is playful, adorable and looking for her forever family.

We only adopt our puppies to people who have first hand puppy experience. We want to be sure our pups are adopted by a family that understands all their needs.

Also, we prefer that our puppies will placed in homes where someone only works part-time. Puppies need lots of love and attention and our pups will only be adopted into families who have the time to spend with them.

We also require that our puppies new homes not contain children under the age of 8. We know that children (both canine and human) can sometimes be unpredictable, and, while there is no sweeter picture than a child and a puppy, in reality, it can be quite a challenge. If your children are aged 8 and up, and you have previous puppy/dog experience, we will consider your application on a case by case basis.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet & gentle dispositions. They live in foster homes as part of a family and have had the following:

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia
First month supply of HeartGuard & Frontline Plus
Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.
Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough
Two De-Worming
Spay/Neuter certificate, where applicable.
No dog 6 months and up will ever leave L&F Dog Rescue without being spayed/neutered. Spay/Neuter is MANDATORY.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.
