HUGE UPDATE on Robert:
Marleen:
We brought the little boy home last night after my sons and Sue an I played with him in Meghan's back yard for about 2 hrs. He jumped right into our car without being prompted and laid on Matt (our 16 year old) on the way home. He slept with Matt on his bed and barked to go out at 6AM to go potty. Sue got him to pick up the newspaper and he brought it upstairs to me and then got his pig ear. He just loved it. He is so gorgeous and loving. We are so excited but even more thankful for your efforts in saving these dogs and how hard you work at it.

Before we get too far, please give me your address so we can send a donation. I've got to get back to work now and we will get back to you very soon.

THANKS!!!!! Steve, Sue, Stephen, Matt and Amanda

We feel very happy because it seems like Robert has found the perfect family for him. Their dog who recently passed on from complications from Lyme disease but was the mirror image in looks and personality for our dear Robert. They are very experienced and plan to train him to be a obedient boy. I would consider this a miracle that we were able to make this match!

Six weeks ago, Robert was returned to us. His family said they he had very odd behavior and was lunging at them. They did not trust Robert and felt that he might bite someone. He never did --- but the feeling was that he "could" someday. His former family was not experienced at this type of behavior. Their application stated that they only wanted a submissive dog.

We do not feel that anyone should ever feel afraid of his or her own dog so of course we took Robert back immediately.

He was brought back into my home and what I saw was Robert trying to dominate me. I am an experienced dog owner and quickly and abruptly put Robert in his place. He accepted the corrections I made and it seems that he sort of shrugged his shoulders and said, “Well, can’t blame a guy for trying!” Then he went on his merry way playing with all the other foster dogs.
He never tested me again. I went through the same thing with my young Akita, he too was put in his place and that was that.

Robert truly loves people and dogs. We had Robert neutered and he may have been experiencing some mixed feelings from his hormones at the same time as realizing that he is an alpha male with his new family.

After a week, Robert was put in our best, most experienced foster home and he has been living there for the last
5 weeks. This is their evaluation of Robert:

He is a strong willed, mischievous puppy; he is now 10 months old and weighs in at around 90 pounds! He will test the perimeter constantly to see how far he can go just like any teenage boy. He takes discipline with good humor and understanding. (I saw the same thing)

Robert is housebroken and will not make a mistake … unless you do! We really feel the Robert prefers to be a good boy. Robert is a DIGGER (picture enclosed as proof) and he LOVES to play
outside all day. Robert it not a whiner and he goes to bed like a good boy in his crate when he is told to. Then he just waits until everyone wakes up to be let out.

There are many good things to say about Robert, he is gorgeous, graceful and an absolute pleasure to live with and to love --- and we do love Robert. Robert is the type of pup who just rolls with whatever comes his way. He can have a good time no matter what the circumstances. Robert has chosen a log --- and I mean a real LOG as his #1 chew toy. He just hangs out back chewing on his log. It does not take much to make the beautiful Robert happy.

Robert fell in love with his foster sister Brooklyn who was just adopted. They just constantly romped around playing and sleeping together. For this reason, we only want Robert to go into a home where there is another dog. It just cannot be another alpha male. Playing for Robert gives him the zest for life.

Robert loves playing with other dogs but he loves humans just as much. When Robert greets you, his whole body starts wagging. He just moves from side to side as if he is experiencing an earthquake! It is the cutest thing to see his greeting; in fact, he is SO CUTE that sometimes I do find it difficult to discipline him. We never, ever saw one second of aggression with Robert at all.

We at L&F Dog Rescue have grown very attached to our dear Robert. He is not perfect and needs someone to adopt him who has YEARS of personal experience with alpha dogs and dog training.

Robert will only be adopted into a family with those qualifications. We also prefer that he have a fenced in property (wood or invisible) so that he can spend his days playing and enjoying his life.

We only want to adopt Robert into an adult only family. He is so large and being an alpha male, we prefer that he not live with children.

There will be NO required adoption donation for Robert since his former family had already paid for his medical bills. We will accept a donation in his name to help us to continue to rescue other dogs like Robert.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet & gentle dispositions, have lived in foster homes with families, and have had the following:
