UPDATE: June 5th, 2007 - On July 31, 2005 we adopted this wonderful old girl
when we found her sitting alone in the Georgetown DE SPCA. Her family could no longer keep her so they took her there.
Nestle' Crunch had to leave us last night. She had many medical problems and for her sake we had to give her peace. She was the love of everyone's life here at L&F Dog Rescue. That tail of her never ever stopped thumping right up until last night at the vet's office her tail was thumping. God, how I will miss that sweet old soul.
She spent the last several weeks at her Aunt Maryann's since she has grass in her backyard (I do not) and Nessie loved to roll around in the grass. She also spent many a weekend with Aunt Maryann since she would pick her up for weekend playdates. She was so wide that we were having trouble getting that fat rear end in the back of the jeep!
Well, looks like we have another family member here. My Nessie was in foster care after being with me for only 24 hours & I was told she just sat at the door for days waiting for my return. When I did come by she was so very happy to see me that it just melted my heart. She and I have been together ever since and I feel that at 12 years old, I can certainly allow this gentle old woman to live out her life here with us. Her favorite place is on our bed with her head on the pillow. She is a great girl! Older dogs just have so much love to give that everyone should adopt one just to see how very special they are!
Nestle' is a 12 year old Chesapeake Bay Retriever Mix. Her family could not keep her and were forced to take her to the Georgetown, DE SPCA.
We just could not allow her to spend anymore time there without people to love and take care of her. We are hoping to find a loving, caring family who would be willing to let her spend her twilight years with them.
She is such a sweet dog; not the least bit demanding, she waits patiently for you to notice her and then those big brown eyes all but melt your heart. Her tail wags and her butt wiggles and she is just so happy to be with you. There are truly distinct advantages to adopting an older dog and in Nestles' case, she is not only calm but her gentle spirit is so full of love, you couldn't ask for a better companion. That's not to say that she's a couch potato; she wants to be wherever you are - at your side, in the front seat of the car or just hanging out. What a joy she is! Please come and meet Nestle at our next Mingle with Mutts which is this Saturday August 6, 2005 1 1AM-2 PM at Concord Pet Store in Hockessin, DE. I know that she wants to meet you!
