Dear Marleen,

I just wanted to let you know how utterly splendid Einstein is. His first day and a half have passed so smoothly it is hard to believe. He was perfectly behaved in his crate all the way home and greeted Ellie as if they were old buddies. We introduced them out in the backyard first and they romped about together. When we took them back into the apt., Ellie looked less than impressed (as if to say, "this little squirt is actually going to live here?"). However, today she is actually deigning to acknowledge his presence; he seems to think she is divine and follows her everywhere trying to imitate everything she does.
He has yet to have a single accident!!! Of course, I'm sure there will be a few to come, but he seems to understand that he should go immediately when taken outside, which is such an unexpected treat! He is a real gentleman and lets me brush him, touch paws, ears, stick pills down his throat, and even submitted quietly-but unhappily- to thorough bathing... when wet, his enormous ears make him look like a baby goat! He likes every human he meets immensely, particularly kids. He is responsive and alert...dare I say brilliant?... and has learned to "Sit" on command. He has continued to earn himself the same laughter from everyone who comes across his unusual hairdo.
I hear a bit of mild coughing from the Kennel Cough very infrequently, but other than that he is happy, hungry and healthy. He has started his meds and had Frontline and Heartworm. I will wait a day or two more before giving him the Drontal, just to let him settle in.
What a delightful temperament this cuddly little guy has-I couldn't have asked for better. Thank you again for all your help and for bringing Einstein into our lives. (I'll send photos as soon as he holds still long enough to take them.:))

All my best,
Michaela, Dan, Ellie and "Professor" Einstein

Einstein has been adopted and will be moving to South Street in Philadelphia. His new Mom is from NY and just moved there. I personally think it's a riot that Einstein is going to live on South Street with that very special "hairdo" of his. I bet he will start a new fad of people and dogs wanted to wear their hair like his!

Einstein will be arriving with an approved adoption application on 08-28-05 from our favorite shelter in West Virginia, Wetzel!

Einstein is named for the hair doo. Looks like a germ shep x pup (approx 6 mths old) but has FUZZ all over the head that looks like a wig. Can't guarantee that this is a lifetime situation, but it is sure cute now! Very sweet and well-behaved pup.

If you would like to fill out an application, you must first register on the website and await an e-mailed passcode. Once you have this info, you will be able to access our application.

All L&F dogs/pups are crate & potty trained, temperament tested, have been chosen for sweet & gentle dispositions, have lived in foster homes with families, and have had the following:

SPAYED/NEUTERED

Microchipping

Tested for Heartworm, Lyme, Ehrlichia

On HeartGuard & Frontline Plus

Rabies, Distemper, Parvo vaccines.

Intra Trac ll Kennel Cough

Two De-Worming

PLEASE NOTE: We do not place puppies in homes where they will be left alone all day. Part-time is ok. Puppies, like babies, need lots of attention, socialization, and cuddles. We do not feel that it is humane to leave them in a crate for 8-10 hours at a time.

If you are applying for an adult dog, we do expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
