About Brook - Went Home 05! | |
|
|
Brook is a cute, playful 7 month old young girl. She is just SO adorable. She was found as a stray. The person who found her was very sad that she was unable to keep Brook and had to take her to the shelter. She is with us now and waiting for her forever home!
October 31 - Brook is doing really well. My back yard is 1/2 acre fenced so she is having a ball running around and chasing the birds and squirrels. She is getting along well with my little dog. I'm getting ready to take her for a walk so she can get some practice on the leash and to expose her to kids at the park. She follows me around the house so she's easy to keep an eye on. She whines when she needs to go out. She is a quick learner and very lovable, she will make someone a great pet. She is very friendly to everyone who comes ove. She is not afraid of hands but does not like loud voices. She loves to be praised and can already sit on command without being on a leash. I'll keep you updated.
October 16 - Brooke update:
What a sweetie Brook is! She loves to get attention and will come up to you while you are sitting and lay her head on your lap and wait for pets. Brook is the type of dog who just loves everyone. She would not dislike anyone. She is great with kids and all humans.
She is really funny how she likes to climb on your lap. She thinks she is a tiny dog. She doesn't jump on the couch --- she is more of a climber. She will use my other dogs as a step ladder if need be. Brook is learning about cats. She got slapped a few times. Brook does not show any signs of aggression she only gets excited and wants to chase. She doesn't like to the vacuum at all, she will go and hide. She will follow you whenever you go into another room. She really enjoys company. I am amazed at how fast she learned the ropes around here. She is completely housebroken and we have not had any accidents. She really likes her belly rubbed it calms her down when she is puppy playing.
She is a wonderful dog and adjusts very quickly. She likes to go for long walks. She likes to be with people and really loves to climb onto the couch and sleep next to you.
PLEASE NOTE: Please read our adoption policies before applying for a puppy or dog.
UPDATE from Brook's foster Mom:
Brook is doing really well. She is such a sweet girl, she is calm for such a young dog. She has been sleeping with my son Josh and does not leave the bed all night. We are working on the house training only a couple of mistakes which i feel isn't bad at all. I have a doggie door in my house and she was real quick to learn how to get in the doggie but hasn't quite figured out going out yet. She likes to play my other dogs and has even managed to get my large male shepherd to play with her. I think he thinks she is his child and has to protect her. If she goes outside he is right there to watch her. I haven't introduced her to any of the cats yet, she really seems like she would like to chase them. I can't stress how sweet she is, we are trying not to get too attached to her but she is working on us.

PLEASE NOTE: Any dog/pup adopted from us must have a fenced in property either physical or Invisible Fence IF there are children in the home.
We do not place puppies in homes where they will be left alone all day. Part-time is ok. Puppies, like babies, need lots of attention, socialization and cuddles. We do not feel that it is humane to leave them in a crate for 8-10 hours at a time. .
If you are applying for an adult dog, we do expect that if no one is home all day, arrangements will be made to provide the dog with at least (1) "potty break" daily, whether it is through a family member, neighbor or petsitting service. We know that it is impossible for us humans to "hold it" for 8-10 hours, so we do not want our "shelter kids" to be expected to do so.
We have several petsitting service companies that we can recommend:
www.homesweethomepetsit.org/ in PA & DE
www.delawarepooperscoopers.com in PA, NJ, & DE
http://www.tlcpetsitting.net/ in MD
We also have a wonderful all day Doggy Day Care service:
Fuzzy Butts Doggy Day Care in Chadds Ford, PA
www.fuzzybuttsPA.com
(I have visited this facility and it is wonderful and reasonable)
