Adopted !!!  We're thrilled that our little girl has found by her perfect family where Mel will have a Mom, Dad & her very own 3 kids that she loves so much! She will be my 471st adoption since LnF was founded 2-24-2004

Mellie is: Constant Companion  Looking for an emotionally secure, mutually satisfying, low maintenance relationship? I am all you need. Let me sit at your feet, walk by your side, and I’ll be your devoted companion forever.

**Be sure to watch her video below playing with her fosters sisters. We found that Mellie LOVES to play fetch & she LOVES to return it so  you'll thru it again & again!**

Amelia (Mellie) is one of our newest KY girls. Mellie is young adult, so very pretty & petite, only 25 lbs full grown. She has a beautiful light yellow coat which is very short so don't have to worry about shedding or allergies – and her eyes – look at those stunning eyes!

There is a video below showing her playing with toys -- most likely for the first time in her life.  She is SUPER sweet & affectionate.  She just wants to curl up in your arms & be held like a baby. She even puts her paws around your neck so she can hug you & you can hug her!

We want to be sure to adopt her to someone who is looking to adopt a dog to be “their baby” & will want to make it up her for being horribly neglected her whole life. She has since been spayed but we had to wait for her body to get back to normal after losing her babies. She also had horrible double dew claws which would have certainly gotten caught on something & torn so we did have them removed when she spayed.

She has a very tragic story but amazingly but you would never know by her excellent behavior. She was chained up outside her whole life in KY & was dropped off at a high kill shelter after having JUST given birth. She didn't come in with puppies so given the info our Vet gave us -- she had indeed just given birth --- but had not even had a chance to nurse her babies. They were either born dead or froze to death -- which is common for females who give birth outside.

We’ve seen this before, when a new Mom loses her babies she is beside herself. She keeps looking for them & she was clearly depressed. She has moved on emotionally --- but she does go around “collecting” items around the house – shoes, socks, towels, anything she can find & piles them around her. We think she "thinks" they are her babies. It’s quite sad for me as her foster mom but I see she isn't distressed, it just cheers her up -- but may always be “a collector.”

Her breed is called a "Mountain Cur" which I wasn't familiar with – mixed with Lab & I think she has some Terrier in her, but you can see what a lovely little girl she is & so cute with her little bobbed tail! She’s been very quiet & hasn’t barked at all. She has started to play with the other dogs & you can see she enjoys herself but I believe as her foster Mom at her core she is a “people dog” who loves us – can you imagine that they can be so forgiving – and I feel she will make an excellent companion to someone who wants to help a little girl heal.

As with all LnF dogs, they live in a foster home with our family, guaranteed to love people with gentle & sound dispositons, get along well with other dogs, are all fully vetted with all their necessary shots, spayed/neutered, microchipped, tested for Heartworm/Lyme (negative), de-wormed, crate & house trained.  Thank you for choosing to adopt!

A minimum 4 foot high fence is always mandatory – there are NO  exceptions to a physical fence & we do not accept any type of electric fence.

Every LnF dog lives in a foster home & have been thoroughly temperament tested to guarantee a sound disposition,  loves people & is fine with other dogs. Each has been evaluated by the *ASPCA Meet Your Match Program.* Our goal is to help you adopt a dog not just by a photo -- but one that fits your lifestyle.
