Our adorable Penny has gone home to start the life she deserves. Her new family consists of Mom & Dad & two (2 legged) sisters! It was such a wonderful match because when she met her potential but now REAL Mom she jumped in her arms as if they had known each other from another life, who knows that may be true! This will be our 452nd adoption!

**Be sure to watch our video's below** This is the story of a rescued dog going from a caterpillar to a stunning butterfly. Penni has a special story. I went to the First State Animal Center & SPCA in Camden Delaware because I'd heard there were two senior sisters who had experienced severe neglect. I was told that Penni was so matted that her back looked like she had a camel's hump. The staff had to shave her right down to her skin. My plan was to take both girls into the rescue but Delaware Humane had a representative there who was also pulling dogs so they took one sister & I took Penni.

We guessed, as we often do, about their breed & age. We thought maybe she was a Lhasa Apso due to her size.

Both girls were very sick from years of neglect & I knew from experience it would take medication & several weeks to get her to well again.  For that reason, we will be requesting additional help with her Vet bills which exceeded our adoption fee. Invoices will be provided as proof & payments can be made directly to our Vet. She is in perfect health now.

We judged her age by the look of her teeth which were pretty bad. Here is where the story changes. She hadn't been spayed yet and I had to wait several weeks because she was too ill to safely undergo surgery. Just recently had her spayed & asked my Vet to clean her teeth also & guess what? Much to my surprise Penni is NOT a senior at all. My Vet has judged her age to only be around three years old based on her uterus & how her teeth cleaned up.

Penni has turned into a cutest little girl, full of zest for life, very affectionate & don’t even think about sitting down unless you’re prepared to have her on your lap the entire duration. If you're not sitting down her favorite place is sitting on the top of one of my chairs looking out the living room window. (Photo shown)

Her coat which is a very pretty cream color with a "hint" of peach is growing in & another surprise -- her coat coming in very curly, like a Cocker Spaniel curly. I posted her photo on our Facebook page asking for ideas of what her breed might be & I think many hit on it – we think that Penni is a Cockapoo which explains the curly coat & small size, 16 lbs.

Since LnF Dog Rescue is a foster-based rescue we get to know our dogs very well because we live with them in our home. We know what they are good at – and what they are not. This is what I’ve determined about Penni. As sweet as she is, she plays very well with the smaller dogs here but I’ve seen that she can be food aggressive with other dogs. That behavior usually is due to a dog having to fight for food. For that reason I’m going to say that Penni must be “an only child” so there can be no problem down the road with other dogs/cats or young children about treats & food. She also loves to be loved & since I know no one had ever shown her love before, she does want your full & undivided attention.

So, if you think knowing all this about Penni that she would fit into your lifestyle perfectly, please read our adoption requirements & if you can meet or exceed them – you can apply online to adopt her. or complete information & to access our application visit us at http://www.lnfdogs.org
